Dairy farming accounts for nearly two-thirds of the livestock GDP in Nepal, with over 100,000 farm households engaged in the dairy business. As a vital sector for livelihood management, dairy farming presents significant economic opportunities. Similarly, pig farming has long been practiced in Nepal and is socially and culturally accepted by certain ethnic groups. With urbanization, the sector is gradually evolving, and commercial, modern pig farming practices have recently emerged. This training program is designed to equip credit department professionals—including loan officers, branch managers, and relationship managers—with essential knowledge and skills to assess and mitigate risks associated with agricultural lending, especially in the dairy and pig farming sectors. The session will provide valuable insights into value chain analysis, cost structures, risk management strategies, and post-loan assessment techniques, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of financing these enterprises.
The program commenced with a brief introduction of the agenda and the trainers by a representative from BIFCAP. This was followed by engaging training sessions and discussions led by the facilitators on the fundamentals of Risk Mitigation in Dairy and Pigs Enterprises. Key topics covered included loan eligibility criteria, repayment terms, and effective risk mitigation strategies. The facilitators also guided participants through practical applications and case studies, showcasing successful loan utilization and best financial practices in the Dairy and Pigs Enterprise sector. The session emphasized critical risk mitigation strategies essential for lending in this sector. The program concluded with attendee feedback and the distribution of certificates to all participants
